How to Maintain Your Ceramic coating

Proper maintenance is key for making sure your coating investment lasts as stated by our manufactures. Just like your car which requires regular oil changes and maintenance items, coatings must be regularly hand washed and maintained for maximum performance. Below is a step by step guide on how to maintain your ceramic coating.

Quick Start Maintenance guide

Please Avoid the following

  • Touching, rubbing, and/or dry wiping the coating (example: use of California dusters)
  • Use of automatic car washes
  • Use of hard or unfiltered water
  • Water contact for the first 7 days after initial coating application
  • use of waxes, sealants, and/or quick detailers on top of the coating
  • use of cotton, bath, and/or shammy towels

We recommend the following

  • Proper hand washing at least twice a month (follow step by step instructions below with instructional video)
  • Use of Deionized Water when washing
  • Only use manufacture recommended products
  • Only use quality/clean wash mitts and automotive microfiber towels
  • Regularly scheduled coating inspections and maintenance services

How to maintain your Ceramic coating

It all starts with the right products and tools that can be purchased in store:

  • PH Natural Car Soap (no added waxes or sealants)
  • Wool or Microfiber Wash Mitt
  • 70/30 Blend Premium Microfiber Drying towel
  • DI Water (highly recommended to avoid hard water spots)
  • 2x Clean 5 Gallon Buckets
  • Grit Guard
  • Pressure Washer (max 1,500 PSI)
  • Foam Cannon

Bold items are not needed but recommended

Step 1: The Initial Rinse & Foam Pre Treatment

First start by thoroughly rinsing off the vehicle starting from the top working your way to the bottom, rinse off as much lose dirt and grime from the vehicle as possible. (DI water is highly recommended to avoid hard water spots) Then foam down the paint using a 2 oz of car soap in your foam cannon make sure to get complete coverage and let the foam sit on the surface for 30 to 60 seconds. (if you don't have a foam cannon move on to step 2 found below). After the foam has sat for a few moments rinse it off the vehicle and then move on to step 2 below.

Step 2: The Hand Wash & Final Rinse

Apply soap solution to the vehicle by foaming it once more or by traditional bucket application start washing the vehicle starting from the top working your way to the bottom section by section and also making sure to rinse your wash mitt in your second rinse bucket  (which should be filled with just clean water) making sure to remove any dirt of grime the wash mitt picked up from the vehicle. Continue this process until the vehicle is completely washed. Then perform a final rinse of the vehicle making sure to remove all left over soap solution from the vehicle.  (DI water is highly recommended to avoid hard water spots)

Step 3: The Drying Process

Fold your premium microfiber drying towel into a comfortable flat holding position and then lightly glide the towel over the vehicle section by section until completely dry. Your can also air dry using pressurized air from a blower.
