Proper maintenance is key for making sure your coating investment lasts as stated by our manufactures. Just like your car which requires regular oil changes and maintenance items, coatings must be regularly hand washed and maintained for maximum performance. Below is a step by step guide on how to maintain both our Modesta & Dr. Beasley's ceramic Coatings.
It all starts with the right products and tools that can be purchased in store:
Bold items are not needed but recommended
Step 1: The Initial Rinse & Foam Pre Treatment
First start by thoroughly rinsing off the vehicle starting from the top working your way to the bottom, rinse off as much lose dirt and grime from the vehicle as possible. (DI water is highly recommended to avoid hard water spots) Then foam down the paint using a 10:1 dilution of Dr. Beasley's Ceramic Body Wash in your foam cannon make sure to get complete coverage and let the foam sit on the surface for 30 to 60 seconds. (if you don't have a foam cannon move on to step 2 found below). After the foam has sat for a few moments rinse it off the vehicle and then move on to step 2 below.
Step 2: The Hand Wash & Final Rinse
Apply the soap solution to the vehicle by foaming it once more or by traditional bucket application (2 cap fill's of Dr. Beasley's Ceramic Body Wash per 3 gallons of water, make sure to properly mix in bucket to a fine lather then dunk wash mitt in bucket soap solution and apply to vehicle). Start washing the vehicle starting from the top working your way to the bottom section by section and also making sure to rinse your wash mitt in your second rinse bucket (which should be filled with just clean water) making sure to remove any dirt of grime the wash mitt picked up from the vehicle. Continue this process until the vehicle is completely washed. Then perform a final rinse of the vehicle making sure to remove all left over soap solution from the vehicle. (DI water is highly recommended to avoid hard water spots)
Step 3: The Drying Process
Fold your premium microfiber drying towel into a comfortable flat holding position and then lightly glide the towel over the vehicle section by section until completely dry. Dr. Beasley's Advanced Coat Gloss or Modesta M2Blast can be used during this time if needed for quarterly or yearly maintenance. Prior to drying the vehicle a single spray of Advanced coat gloss per section or 3 sprays of Modesta M2Blast per section
(1 section size is about the size of one door or half a hood) while the vehicle is wet is all that is needed, after applied to the wet surface then lightly buff it in and dry at the same time. This process should be performed in the shade or controlled environment section by section (1 section size is about the size of one door or half a hood). Flip the towel as needed until the vehicle is completed. The use of a air blower can help with drying jambs and tight areas that cannot be reached by a towel.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to one of our representatives. We go to great lengths to make sure you have everything you need to maintain and enjoy your vehicle.
